This just in, NME reports Jack and Meg White have donated the drum kit used in the White Stripes’ “The Hardest Button to Button” video (directed by Michel Gondry) in order to raise money for Detroit music scene legend Jim Shaw, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

The AP reports that 1731 Seminole, the former Detroit, Michigan home of Jack White has finally sold to a retired couple from Maryland for $590,000. The selling price was $60,000 below the final asking price, and a far cry from the original $930,000 price tag that was attached to the property when the house was first put on the market in August of 2006.
White must have been anxious to sell, as he now lives in Nashville, TN with his wife and child. He spent a reported $200,000 worth of restoration/upgrades on the property–more than three times the $66,000 he gained in the sell, putting him in the red for net earnings on the real estate deal.
Note to self: Don’t take real estate advice from Jack White.

Ah, our two biggest obsessions of last week, Jack White and The Von Bondies, collided once again — literally. According to a Detroit police report filed by VB lead singer, Jason Stollsteimer, Jack punched him at a Brendan Benson concert. Jack says it was self-defense. The real question is when did Jack legally change his last name to “White”? Links from Laura Coaxme and Whatevs.
BTW — Why does Jack look so freaking scary?
DUDE — IF YOU WEREN’T AT THE BE de-TROIT SHOW LAST NIGHT AT THE BOWERY, YOU FUCKING MISSED OUT! IT WAS RAD AS ALL HELL.
I totally love The Kills. They’re amazing. Go buy everything they sell. You’ll be a happier person. Alison is this CK One-looking creature and it’s fabulous.
STILL BEN SWANK AND LOVIN’ IT!
The most surreal moment was when the little person was grinding with a really tall drunk girl during the Dirtbombs. And then Tom crowd surfed and Ben Swank poured beer down his pants and then they started fighting… as did Johnny Walker and blond dude from the Datsuns. I guess around 2a.m. things always start to get a little out of hand.
I want to give a shout out to all my peeps, and a special HOolla to Richard!
MORE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL TONIGHT.
