So many shout outs to Table 114 on the Golden Globes. Who was sitting there? The Boardwalk Empire peeps, including Dougie Payne (bassist from Travis) and wife Kelly Macdonald (who I loved as Diane in Trainspotting), of course.
The legend that was Table 114
With those two amazing Scots, how could you go wrong?
Watch Steve Buscemi‘s win with a shout-out to “table 114″:
Other folks at the table, Buscemi’s wife Jo Andres, Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw, Tom Hanks (who later gave a shout out to table 114) and wife Rita Wilson. [click to continue…]
WTF? Check out the “music” section. Link from Michelle.
HEEeeeeyyyy. I used to play this game sans computer last year. It all started with… “If I had to pick a member of Travis who reminded me of Neil Vickers, it would be… Fran Healy.” But I am devastated I’m not Andy Dunlop… I should have picked anything involving alcohol and “drunk” more often…
In Dougie-related news, check out the totally AWESOME new issue of Shout Magazine w/ Kelly MacDonald on the cover! How cool is that? We love Kelly Mac! And we also love Shout, which is turning out to be one of the best local magazines around.
Which reminds me of the time I saw Kelly… it was 2000? Outside the NBC studios. A very tall lanky guy wearing a Rangers jersey was coming toward us and walked by. As soon as he walked by I stopped walking and everyone kinda looked at each other. Yup, it was Dougie Payne. The small hooded girlie next to him was Kelly Mac. Aw.
For all the cool cats in London, head over to Cargo for this D. Gray event! I’m not sure if it’s thatD. Gray… but it might be? Er.. maybe not.. but maybe? I don’t know. Whatever, just go to Cargo anyway.: “SUNDAY 27.01 – DAVID GRAY PHOTO EXHIBITION LAUNCH PARTY

All you ever wanted to know about… random stuff about London.
MTV is so lame sometimes. Like their new Handpicked album. Coldplay “Yellow,” Travis “Sing”… Five for Fighting, Yorn, Adams. Oyyyyyy… But we like the picture they put up on their website of good ol’ CP.
Which brings us to something more enjoyable. MTV2 premiere Thursday- KYLIE MINOGUE. Gentlemen, start your engines.
I missed Ewan on the Golden Globes. Ooops. And Russell Crowe just THANKED Anthony Rapp in his speech. First Adam on the Mandy Moore diary… now Anthony. Ok. Whatever. Apparently Anthony is doing some stuff with the Japanese cast of Rent… Yeah… I don’t get it either.. Go to his site to figure it out.
Honestly, you don’t know how many times I’ve thought, “Gee, I wonder what it would look like if Peter Bauer morphed into an ostrich and Matt Barrick morphed into a hawk.” Thank god my prayers were answered!
Ewwwww…. James breaks my heart by teaming up with Ryan Adams. Oh how cruel these Brits can be.
In a horrifying Almost Famous Russell Hammond moment, Alfie guitarist Ian Smith was electrocuted. Astrid still went on to play that night.
In Wussy Brit Arena Rock news, Fran Healy is ready to give up making sappy music and go full on into sissyhood by fathering some babies. About time he came around. No word on whether or not Dougie and Andy will be joining the Old Married Men Club within the next few months.
The picture caption on Thursday with the Pop Life column, about bands that are bringing new energy to rock ‘n’ roll, referred incorrectly to a highly regarded recording by the White Stripes, which is in the forefront of the movement. It is “White Blood Cells,” not “Is This It,” and it is the group’s third album, not its first. “Is This It,” as the column noted, is the first album by the band Strokes.
Cast, “Desert Drought”… the singer sounds like Robbie Williams… and Saves the Day.. that Funeral song or whatever it is… are these kids out of high school yet? I saw the vid last night and I kept thinking of Ben Lee or something.
