So for the last three nights I’ve been heading to Santos Party House (aka 100 Lafayette) for some fashionable parties.
On Friday night was a V Magazine celebratory party for designer/photographer Hedi Slimane’s new book, Rock Diary where PYT and recent Slimane muse Hayes Peebles played a solo set in front of the very stylish crowd. When a young fashionista squealed out, “You’re so sexy!,” I turned around and mentioned that Peebles is still a tender 15 years old, to which the girl shook her head and moaned, “Noooo!!”
The next night was the Misshapes.com launch party, where the dark-haired trio of Greg, Leigh, and Geordon mingled with famous faces such as M.I.A. (and her new fiance), Sophia Lamar, and Benjamin Cho as well as the regular cast of Misshapes party revelers.
Guest DJ Lightspeed Champion was there as well, and a couple of my er… well lubricated… friends took it upon themselves to give him a hefty hug and hoist in the air:
Needless to say, the party was a fantastically fun event, with both Apache Beat and These New Puritans busting eardrums with their raucous sounds, and dancing fools taking advantage of the dance floor downstairs.

Quintessential Converse poster boy Julian Casablancas (of The Strokes, obvs) has joined forces with producing powerhouse Pharrell Williams and the eclectic recording artist Santogold to record a track to hock some kicks.
Reports the Guardian:
The new untitled song is “such a Pharrell track”, Santogold said. We hope this means it recalls the heights of Justin Timberlake and not the lows of Skateboard P.
A video has also been shot, in which we assume Converse trainers will feature prominently.
Finally, if anyone’s worrying that this kind of arbitrary commissioned project might somehow be lacking in a clear, creative vision, Santogold offers the following lucid insight: “Everybody on it does their own separate thing and we didn’t do it together so it ends up being just this weird long song with sort of everybody with lots of their own personalities separate.”
It’s enough to make us long for Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney on a horse-drawn wagon.
In 2006, Julian’s bandmate Nick Valensi‘s wife Amanda de Cadenet shot the John Varvatos for Converse ad campaign.

About a week after he had his own Superman moment, Jack White made a rare public appearance with his wife, supermodel Karen Elson, to the opening of the “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy” exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala on Monday, May 5th.
Following the footsteps of his White Stripes bandmate, Meg White (who attended the event in 2006), Jack and Karen were both dressed in Marc Jacobs–she in a red wine-colored floor-length gown, and he in a black and white tuxedo.

Check out this new music video for “Who” by British/American band the Five O’Clock Heroes, featuring vocals by superstar Brit model Agyness Deyn:
Surprisingly, Agyness sounds quite good…. Thoughts?
TMA friend Adam Neustadter directed the video. Writes Adam on his blog: “The track was recorded on a Friday and the video was shot the following afternoon. It was a really intimate shoot with minimal crew, equipment, and preparation.”

Writes Trashbag Aestethics: “MIA told WWD that she has been currently rocking her own collection of gear . M.I.A’s collection includes bomber jackets, leggings & T-shirts. The collection has been said to featured bold bright hues & graphic prints.”
Although this line has the potential to become a neon-infused disaster, much like Ashlee Simpson’s clothing line for Wet Seal, methinks MIA will be able to pull off some hot designs.

I miss the brown hair. The blonde hair makes her look washed out here, but she looks a lot cuter in this comely photo.
According to People: “Lily Allen, checking out the art of musician-turned-painter pal Paul Simonon (of The Clash) during a private viewing at London’s Thomas Williams Fine Art Gallery. The newly blonde singer got a sneak preview of the work – inspired by Simonon’s time in Spain – before it officially opens to the public on April 17. ”
Allen reportedly spent $47,000 on artwork at the show–one piece for her bedroom, and the other as a gift to friend Elton John.
Allen, who was recently dropped as an Orange Prize judge, is said to be dating comedian James Corden, who she met on her chat show “Lily Allen and Friends” last month. Watch the sparks fly:

Just saw Ty Ty (aka Tyra Banks) with a ton of makeup on, Farrah hair, wearing a tan trenchcoat along w/ ANTM winner, Jaslene as well as two other model-y chicks wearing “MODEL CITIZEN” t-shirts w/ Tyra show logos on the back in Union Square. Just a bunch of gawkers, some policemen, security people and camera crew. North West side of the park.
UPDATE: Looks like it was for the Tyra Show. Celebrating her 600th episode.

So I’ve sorta been watching American Idol every week, and I basically hate all the contestants except David Cook, who I lovingly refer to as “the Creed guy” because he totally sings like one of those dudes in some “rock” band from Canada or who loves Jesus. I missed this week but was pleased to see pictures and footage of the show which showed a remarkable change in David’s outward appearance: David Cook’s “emover” (aka the “emo combover”) has disappeared!
