Lissy Trullie Swaps Spit with Lady Friend for Fashion

Superfriends musician Lissy Trullie and blogger/model/party girl Corey Kennedy (EDITOR’S UPDATE: Nope, it sure looks like Corey Kennedy, but apparently it’s not. Corey is in the lookbook wearing the same shirt, but in t-shirt form, apparently this girl is wearing the tank-top version. The girl in the photo is an unnamed friend) and a female buddy are showing of their joyful affection for one another with a playful lip lock (below) in the latest lookbook for Chrissie Miller’s S/S 09 line for Sophomore shot by Cass Bird.

As faithful readers of Corey’s blog will know, she and Lissy have become fast friends as Corey has tagged along during the Lissy/Virgins tour.

Speaking of… The Virgins are also featured in the lookbook… and singer Donald Cumming was a model for the Fall 2008 Sophomore line.

A newer member of the NYC-music centric circle is Mr. Adam Green (formerly of the Moldy Peaches), who has even done a cover version of Biz Markie’s “Just a Friend” with Lissy:

Diesel’s Dirty Thirty Birthday: Get Tickets to M.I.A. Performance

I was looking up some ethical shopping stuff today (I know, totally granola of me) and read that Diesel Jeans were actually produced more ethically than Calvin Klein jeans. So with that in mind, I’d like to mention that Diesel Jeans is planning what sounds like an amazing party “event” on it’s 30th birthday…on the same day in 17 different cities across the world, one of which is our very own NYC.

The location of the October 11th party is “top secret” (er.. it’s Pier 3 in DUMBO) but will feature a truly star-studded musical lineup like M.I.A. and Hot Chip… and you can get tickets by stopping by the Diesel stores in NYC, or a number of bars/record shops in the city.

Oooorrrr… you can send an email to contest @ with the subject line “DIESEL,” and your name, address, and telephone number in the email body. I’ll pick 5 people who will each receive a pair of tickets delivered at your doorstep. (Sorry, you must be 21+.) That’s right, you + M.I.A. + free food + cotton candy. Sounds rad, right? (The giveaway has ended, sorry!)

If this awesome sorta SFW video is any indication, this fiesta is going to rock:

Also on October 10th, there will be some limited edition “Dirty Thirty” jeans for sale at the Diesel store for only $50.

Lykke Li Performs for Drunks, Models, and Fashionistas

Tonight’s V Magazine party at the Mini Space Roof was chock full o’ beautiful people…Agyness, Raquel, Irina, Karlie, and many many more. But I was most excited to see the Swedish singing sensation, Lykke Li.

Wearing a loose black shirt and pants outfit that looked like a chic genie, she wooed the crowd with her beautiful, child-like voice.

The reality TV junkie that I am, I completely FLIPPED out when I saw Rachel Zoe. I love love LOVE her Bravo show, The Rachel Zoe Project. She was super nice, and looked fab…and actually not as skinny as I thought she’d be–don’t get me wrong, she’s TINY, but not horrifyingly so.

Gossip Girl Alert: Leighton Meester Hearts DVF, Blake Lively Hearts…RENT?

So I didn’t wake up today and say to myself, “Dude, you should totally be a paparazzi specializing in CW stars,” but it seems as though I ended up being one today… I just happen to spot almost all the major players in the cast of Gossip Girl! I was walking around the tent for Diane von Furstenberg at Bryant Park today and all of a sudden out the corner of my eye I saw a girl wearing yellow, and then a herd of people instantly swarming around her and her friend.

Walking closer, I recognized Miss Leighton Meester! I snapped a few photos, and then only later did I realize that the other girl accompanying her was none other than Jessica Szohr!

Albert Hammond Jr. to Launch Men’s Clothing Line

Reports NY Magazine, Strokes guitarist/solo artist Albert Hammond Jr. will launch a menswear line with fashion stylist Ilaria Urbinati this fall. The focus? Men’s suits.

“They’re for the person who needs his one suit for a wedding,” Hammond told NY Magazine. “He’d rather get something like this than go to Men’s Wearhouse, pay the same amount, and look like an out-of-date parent.”

And seeing as how Urbinati has styled a slew of diminutive male stars like James McAvoy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Michael Angarano, I wonder if men of slimmer (and smaller) statures will easily be able to slip into the brand.

The clothes will be sold at Urbinati’s LA store, Confederacy, which is scheduled to open on September 16th…and rumored to be hosted by, you guessed it, Albert and Agyness Deyn.

Thanks to D for the head’s.

Bonus Jonas Mania Manifests Itself

Recently I’ve been expressing my fascination/obsession with the Jonas Brothers to a few friends. Well, sometimes mentioning random musings to people yields hilarious results, as is the case this week. My friend who works at Neighborhoodies took it upon himself to pitch the below t-shirt in their daily idea meeting.

Get your credit cards ready… let me introduce…

What is a “bonus Jonas,” you may ask? The Jonas Brothers is band comprised of three real-life brothers: Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas. But according to a recent New York Times article, they have a 7-year-old younger brother named Frankie–and for better or worse, their father touts him as “the Bonus Jonas.”

“Bonus Jonas” has since become a hilarious catchphrase among young adults and teens who are Jonas Brothers fans/detractors.

Seriously, how could you NOT love this face?

Albert Hammond Jr. Breaks Out the “Como Te Llama?” at Private Show

In preparation for his tour to promote his second album, “Como Te Llama?,” Albert Hammond Jr. performed at an invite-only concert at the Mercury Lounge last night (July 1).

Luckily, the event was not overrun by media hounds.

As a supportive crowd of friends, family, and devoted fans cheered on, Albert and his new band played around thirteen tracks–a mix of old (“In Transit,” “101,” an acoustic version of “Blue Skies” played while standing on the right-hand side row of seats at the beginning of the set) and new (the album’s first single, “GfC,” “Rocket,” “Miss Myrtle”), playing live for the first time in almost a year. The set had it’s problems like consistent feedback from the microphones–which Albert stated, “you’ll be hearing a lot of that” at the top of the set”–and the wrong note (or two) strummed out on a guitar, but overall a fine showing.

My favorite song of the evening was a track of the new album, which drops July 8th, entitled “Victory at Monterey.” I love the chorus–it’s slightly dancey, but in a good way. Check out the video:

Famous faces sprinkling the crowd included actress Kirsten Dunst, AH Jr possible main squeeze Agyness Deyn, Adam Green, James Iha, and Nick Zinner. Surprisingly unseen–any members of the Strokes!

Setlist: Blue Skies, EGAS, In My Room, Lisa, Holiday, GfC, Rocket, VAM, In Transit, Miss Myrtle, G Up, 101, Borrowed Time, Postal Blowfish

Couldn’t make it to the show tonight? Have no fear–Albert will be performing for FREE at Virgin Megastore Union Square on it’s release day, July 8th at 8pm.
