The Editors Show Moved

Oh boy…

Due to unforeseen delays in construction on the Annex (which is a new club), tonight’s Editors show (Saturday, January 21) has been moved to Rothko.

Rothko is located just around the corner at 116 Suffolk Street between Rivington and Delancey.  To get there from the Annex, walk South to Rivington then walk East 4 blocks to Suffolk street.  The club is just a 1/2 block south on Suffolk.

Rothko is a smaller club and capacity will be limited.  Doors are now at 9pm. Due to the limited capacity, please arrive by 10pm in order for us to accommodate ticket-holders and will-call.

The Strokes’s Interplanetary SPIN Cover

Julian as a used car salesman/Florida grandpa, Nick as Steven Tyler, Fab as Mr. Kotter, Albert as…er…drunk Albert (??), and Nikolai as Lucas Haas’s Amish character in Witness. This is the stuff Strokes covers for SPIN are made of…well at least for 2006.

Be sure to check out the February issue (on stands NOW) which features a cover story on the Strokes written by Marc Spitz. Oh, and on the fourth page of the article you can catch me being quoted about how I “can’t keep up with the [music] that’s out there now” (because I’m old and unsavvy) and me being a lifelong fan of the Strokes.

And of course, the boys are playing SNL tomorrow night.

Mylo’s US Tour Canceled Due to Virus

Woah! This is NUTS. Hot off the PR press:

Mylo has been forced to cancel his forthcoming dates in the U.S. due to a hearing condition.

Having contracted a virus over the Christmas period which has caused him temporary hearing loss, Mylo had been advised to cancel live shows in Japan and Australia at the start of the year. He had hoped that his condition would recover sufficiently to allow him to perform live shows in the U.S., unfortunately his recovery is very slow and no real progress has been made. As he has been recommended to completely recover he has been advised by his doctor not to commit to anything further at least until the end of February.  Mylo deeply regrets having to cancel the dates.

However, even though Mylo will not be able to tour the U.S. as planned, his new release Destroy Rock & Roll will be available in the States on February 7th.

Here’s to Mylo getting better soon!

Project Runway: The Myspace Edition

I was inspired by a comment left by someone claiming to be “Project Catwalk’sMatthew Bowkett on my “Project Cuties” post to do some searching for some “Project Runway” contestants on It should be noted that as of this interview with Andrae, “Project Cuties” contestant Daniel V. does NOT have a Myspace profile.

Oh, BTW, if you really are Matthew Bowkett, send me the link to your Myspace profile.

Anyway, here are the results and some commentary:

Are you at all surprised that Santino has the most absurd pictures in his Myspace profile? Andrae looks all happy, smiley, and shaved. Nick is 38 years old!??!?! Daniel Franco is straight. Zulema looks very pretty, but is anyone getting Glamour Shots flashbacks? (She also has an offical site.)

Not on Myspace, but they have web sites: Raymundo, Emmett “Vulgar” McCarthy, Kara Janx.

Oh My Lord…

Don’t you ever wonder how people who are so obviously out of touch with the world around them get into positions of power? Sorry, I was just watching the Daily Show. What is wrong with this country? When I watch those clips of George W. Bush I just want to smack myself in the head.

Stop It!

Ok people, don’t start freaking out. The Editors show on Saturday is STILL at the Annex NOT at Hiro, NOT at the Learning Annex, NOT at Crash Mansion under the name “Wyld Stallyns. Jeez Louise. All this nonsense is giving me a headache.

Here’s the deal: If you bought tickets to the “Hiro” show, they will still be honored at the Annex.

I also feel obliged to tell you that you should get there at least by 10pm because the venue has a capacity of 400 people and the show is ENTIRELY SOLD OUT. When the Editors played earlier this week in LA both shows were sold out and there were huge crowds of people outside the venue trying to blag their way in. The venue wasn’t even accepting admission for people on the guest list, no matter who you were. I expect the same to happen here this weekend.

If you’re fashionably late, you may be fashionably left out in the cold.

Oprah Wants to Know if You’re Gay (or Straight) for Heath and Jake

Woah! When did Heath Ledger get a Lindsay Lohan-scale freckle face? Oh and BTW, rumor has it that Heath will be on the cover of Rolling Stone very shortly. Let’s hope he shaves before the photoshoot.

BTW, are you totally gay (or totally straight) for Heath or Jake Gyllenhaal? Well Oprah is looking for you! (Hopefully this doesn’t involve any couch jumping.) Oh yeah, read it and weep:

Has Heath Ledger or Jake Gyllenhaal changed or influenced your life? How long have you been a fan? Do your friends and family think you’re obsessed with Heath or Jake? If so, tell us why!

Send your info to Oprah through this form.

New Tracks from Nelly Furtado’s Upcoming Album

Oooohhyeahhh. I am such a closet Nelly Furtado fan. Back in the day I stole my mother’s Woah Nelly! CD because I loved it so much. I think she’s not only ridiculously beautiful, but she manages to blend hip hop, pop, and a little Portuguese and make it sound delicious and catchy.

Now’s the time to get a sample of Nelly’s new album, Loose, by listening to two hot tracks, “Maneater” and “Promiscuous Girl”, both produced by Timbaland. Personally I love “Maneater” the most. The catchy chorus is like 80s Madonna meets…well…Hall and Oates. Watch out for guest vocals by none other than Chris Martin to pop up on the song “All Good Things Come to an End”, also on the album. Chris and Nelly at one time sparked rumors of a love connection a few years ago during Glastonbury.

Move over Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado is back to reclaim her crown of “most annoying female voice you can’t help but love”. Hot! Link from ONTD.
