Ry Ry must be feeling nostalgic, because he’s gone ahead and resurrected his death metal band Werewolph… well, at least on the internet he has decided to give the side project at least one last hurrah.
Pizza and pentagrams, the breakfast of devil-worshiping champions.
The group how has it’s own website, Werewolph.com (obvs), where you can hear the tracks “Dead People Unite,” “Evil Weekend,” and “Mega Wizards.”
In these tough economic times, everyone could definitely use a free concert. If you happen to be hanging out in SoCal next week, be sure to catch NYC music darlings Matt and Kim at the 3rd Annual Powersliding event on April 15, 3-5pm at the Santa Monica Pier where they will be playing a completely gratis show.
It’s sponsored by Levi’s, so the event planners are pulling out all the stops with free food and drinks and there will be some “celebrity” judges at the event: Jonny Moseley, Wee Man, and “Girls Next Door” star Kendra Wilkinson. [click to continue…]
The show is a collection of work from artists from around the world, all born around 1980. It’s definitely full of exuberant, youthful work. Sometimes it’s a little too hip for itself (especially when you see so much “hip” conceptional work gathered together like this), but overall I thought the curators did a good job of including a wealth of interesting pieces.
Some of my favorite works were two pieces on the 3rd floor, one which was an enormous rainbow gradient print that was created by built-in settings in Photoshop, and adjacent to it was another winner, this time by artist Tauba Auerbach whose photographs are beautiful abstract compositions.
A buzz-making piece was definitely one that featured a bed occupied by a paid volunteer who takes sleeping drugs so that she (all the volunteers are female) can slumber during museum hours.
Since I’m feeling oh-so into my favorite older bands, I’m happy to report that another local New York band from way back is well on their way to releasing some new material. Local rockers Stellastarr* are poised to release their third album, entitled Civilized, this summer on July 7th off their own record label Bloated Wife Records.
The colorful album artwork for Civilized has a sinister spin: it depicts a legs-akimbo woman (?) who appears to have been the victim of head trauma, splayed out over a wood floor. Yikes! It’s like album cover meets “Law & Order.”
The first single off the album will be “Graffiti Eyes,” and in conjunction with the April 20th iTunes release of the song, the tune will also be featured on the beloved guilty pleasure of 20-somethings everywhere, “Gossip Girl” that very same day.
Yes, I’ve had a little work done. I’ve been meaning to redesign the site for a really long time, but this time I actually did it. I’m quite pleased with the results.
I think the site looks cleaner, more colorful, and has a bit more personality.
Razorlight is just one of those bands that kinda slipped through the cracks for me, but every time I catch one of their performances (usually on some kind of talk show), I’m always super-impressed by their music.
I just happened to catch a repeat of a performance of “Wire to Wire” that they did on Letterman last month, and once again Razorlight has captivated me. Sure the song sounds a little like a bigger, grander version of “A Horse With No Name” by America, but it’s still pretty rad IMHO. Check it:
Jack White‘s newest supergroup, The Dead Weather, will play their FIRST EVER public show next week at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom.
Tickets go on sale this Wednesday, April 8th, at 10 am EST on Ticketmaster. There is a 2 ticket limit per person.
As previously revealed, The Dead Weather is fronted by The Kill’s Alison Mosshart, and includes The Raconteurs‘ Jack Lawrence on bass, Dean Fertita from Queens Of The Stone Age on guitar and Jack White on drums and vocals.
Guess which Strokes member is currently taking in the sounds of The Rakes and The Dig at the Bowery Ballroom right this minute? Word is he’s looking well fit and is there with his lady love…
So many people I know will go to great lengths to get a taste of Red Lobster’s famed Cheddar Bay Biscuits. Red Lobster serves over 395 million of the biscuits a year, but what if I were to tell you that the secrets recipe to making your own RL Cheddar Bay Biscuit was about to be revealed to you. YES.
The recipe is based off this classic cheddar biscuit created by the Kraft Cooking School:
Essentially you follow all the steps in the video and then create a mixture that will be spread on top of the biscuits. The ingredients? Butter, parsley flakes, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and a pinch of Old Bay seasoning.
Bake, and enjoy the deliciousness in your very own home!
