In case the live blogging of the live tweets wasn’t enough to give you the full “I was almost there” experience, check out these videos of Lily Allen performing at last night’s “secret” Myspace Bowery Ballroom show:
As you may recall, The White Stripes have had a long love affair with Conan, appearing on his show multiple times, and even featuring him in their video for “Denial Twist”:
I’m conducting a social experiment. I’ve decided not to head over to Bowery and see Lily Allen… but can I get the full experience of waiting and seeing Lily Allen all via the internets and Twitter?
I think it’s fitting that I be blogging via Twitter. After all, Lily @lilyroseallenis the queen of all social media.
So far I’m getting the full line experience for the show…right from the comfort of my own home!
Ryan Adams is in the mood for love: The prolific troubador has released a new EP titled “Extra Cheese” in advance of Valentine’s Day.
The extra play contains a studio recorded version of fan favorite song “Hey There, Mrs. Lovely,” in addition to some of Ry Ry’s most swoon-worthy songs, “Answering Bell,” “Desire,” “Blossom,” “Two,” “My Love for You Is Rea,” and “Evergreen.”
If you’ve been anywhere near a TV in the last week, you probably are already aware that SNL‘s Andy Samberg‘s film/comedy group, The Lonely Island, have spawned a new full-length album called Incredibad which dropped today (Feb 10).
However, what you might not have realized is that a very familiar sounding voice is guesting on one song called “Boombox”–that’s right The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas.
Julian teamed up with Andy on the West Coast this summer to do this humorous send up describing the transformation of a stuffy country club, a drab and homeless NYC, and a nursing home into a bumpin’ dancefest at the arrival of a magical boombox.
Superfriends musician Lissy Trullieand blogger/model/party girl Corey Kennedy (EDITOR’S UPDATE: Nope, it sure looks like Corey Kennedy, but apparently it’s not. Corey is in the lookbook wearing the same shirt, but in t-shirt form, apparently this girl is wearing the tank-top version. The girl in the photo is an unnamed friend) and a female buddy are showing of their joyful affection for one another with a playful lip lock (below) in the latest lookbook for Chrissie Miller’s S/S 09 line for Sophomore shot by Cass Bird.
As faithful readers of Corey’s blog will know, she and Lissy have become fast friends as Corey has tagged along during the Lissy/Virgins tour.
A newer member of the NYC-music centric circle is Mr. Adam Green (formerly of the Moldy Peaches), who has even done a cover version of Biz Markie’s “Just a Friend” with Lissy:
Last week you may have noticed a gigantic snow ramp appeared on the east side of Manhattan in the East River Park and wondered what the heck was going on. Well Red Bull was throwing a radical event called “Red Bull Snowscrapers” which had 16 of the world’s best snowboarders competing for a $100,000 prize purse.
One of the riders was probably the most famous snowborder in the world right now, the man known as the Flying Tomato, Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White.
We sent some brave souls over to the man-made snow world in the freezing cold this past Thursday to snap some photos of White. Here they are:
…don’t ever make me watch the Jonas Brothers perform with Stevie Wonder ever again. It’s just too painful.
…watching a uber pregnant M.I.A. perform alongside T.I., Jay-Z, and Lil’ Wayne, was awesome. She is possibly the coolest woman in music EVER.
…make all of Coldplay wear the same purple outfits that Will Champion was wearing.
…keep giving Jennifer Hudson awards for her amazing singing, but make it a stipulation that she’s not allowed to wear outfits that cover her face anymore. (Luckily her makeup was gorgeous.)
…Katy Perry should not be allowed to perform anywhere, let alone as Chiquita Banana.
…Alison Krauss and Robert Plant doing “Rich Woman” = fantastic. It kinda was like this:
…don’t ever allow Gwyneth Paltrow to present again dressed up as a gold disco ball. Especially when she’s wearing some throwaway shiny tights from some high school cheerleader conference. Especially when she’s salivating over Radiohead. (Are you trying to make her British-obsessed lady boner explode? Granted, it’s hard to say who was more excited, her or her Radiohead-worshiping husband.)
The current bidding price is $5,100, but the reserve has not been met yet.
According to the latest update on the eBay auction:
“Meg White is offering a personal special gift surprise to the actual winner of the Drum Kit. Also she is stopping by with a signed letter of authenticity. once i receive the letter i will post it to this auction.”

Thoughts on the latest from this polarizing British pop star?
I’m finding the promo pic a bit trashy, but finding the music more appealing. Sounds like Lily has refined her sound to something a little more sophisticated, although I do miss the overt chavy-ness of her first album, Alright, Still. On the initial listen, liking “Never Gonna Happen” the best.
