Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Blitz” The Internets

As you are probably already aware, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are ready to unleash a new album upon the world in just a matter of weeks. We’ve already heard the very snythy streams of “Zero,” the new single off the new LP It’s a Blitz.

As per usual, the YYYs are having fun with their latest release, putting out a webisode series giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the new album. Although I’m not sure how much information you can glean from these clips. The first installment is a surreal bit called “The Scientist.” The black and white short looks like something Salvador Dali would have put together:

Confusing or not, I’m always excited to hear about any offering from the YYYs. Always fabulous, always fearless.

Oh, and just for fun… Salvador Dali on “What’s My Line?”

VIDEO: White Stripes Perform on Conan O’Brien’s Last Late Night Show

As previously reported, the White Stripes appeared as the final musical guest on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. The duo, who previously had not performed live together in years, deviated from their standard set up of guitar and drums and instead Jack and Meg whipped out a pair of guitars to perform a slow, sweet version of “We Are Going to Be Friends.”

In introducing the band, Conan said he was “personally thrilled” that the group was performing for his last episode on Late Night.

Dressed in the standard color palate of red, white, and black, Jack and Meg stood side by side behind an old fashioned microphone. Jack, clothed in all black, took the lead by playing a white and red acoustic guitar and Meg, who wore a long white and red flower print prairie dress strummed along with an electric guitar using distortion.

As the Stripes sung out the last lines of the tune, “I can tell that we are going to be friends,” both Jack and Meg looked up and sang to one another. At the finish of the song, Conan came over to thank them, and while shaking hands with Jack, he leaned over and said that their performance “meant the world to me.”

Did you see the set? If so, what did you think of the WS reunion?

Missed the spot? Have no fear, the internets is here:

You can watch the entire episode on NBC.com.

My Favorite Commercial of the Moment

Her name is Kylie, and she’s 4 1/2. She can master photo manipulation and send pictures of her fish to her family. Ok, so she’s a “PC”, but she’s so freaking adorable I just can’t handle it:

Beth Ditto Goes Nude for LOVE Magazine

New magazine LOVE has gone bold with the cover of their very first issue. The newborn glossy, created by POP magazine’s Katie Grand, has put a striking photograph of a very nude Beth Ditto right on the cover of its “Icons of a Generation” issue.

The Gossip singer, who has previously done a new cover for lesbian erotica mag On Our Backs as well as indie Anglophile erotic music mag NME, is depicted with fiery red hair as she gazes down toward her nether regions, which are covered by a big pink ruffle thing.

What’dya think? Bigger is better? I for one am inspired by Ditto’s fierce style.

Agyness Deyn and Albert Hammond Jr. Pose for Vogue

In honor of Valentine’s Day (tomorrow), I present you a story that has been out for a little bit, but will perhaps inspire some romanticism in your life… Recently Albert Hammond Jr. and his lady love, model Agyness Deyn, posed for a fashion spread in Vogue magazine (you know, like you do).

Check out some of the glamorous pictures below:

For those that are a little less inclined to appreciate the gooey nature of the spread, a bit of conflicting news. Although it is stated in the Vogue piece that Al and Aggy are engaged, a more recent NY Magazine interview with Agyness reveals something a bit different.

CONFIRMED: White Stripes Play Once More for Conan’s Last Show in NYC

You’ve heard the rumors about the White Stripes possibly performing on Conan’s last show as host of Late Night on NBC. The rumors are true! The New York Times reports:

Jack White and Meg White, the rock duo better known as the White Stripes, will reunite to perform on the Feb. 20 broadcast of NBC’s “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” the band’s publicist said in an e-mail message. The show is Mr. O’Brien’s final episode as host of “Late Night” before Jimmy Fallon, the “Saturday Night Live” star, takes over on March 2; Mr. O’Brien becomes host of NBC’s “Tonight” show on June 1.

Who else is excited?!?!

The last time the duo performed together was in 2007.

This, unlike Ryan’s announcement = GOOD BDAY NEWS.

The Iconography of Barack Obama

Some recent news involving the iconography of Barack Obama.

Graffiti artist Shepherd Fairey is at legal war with the Associated Press over his re-interpretation of an AP photo of Obama that he used in his now famous “HOPE” and “PROGRESS” poster series. Fairey has sued the news organization in a preemptive strike against them suing him:

Interesting little videos about how the Chicago-based design company MODE came to settling on the now famous Obama “O” logo:

OMGWTF? Ryan Adams and Mandy Moore Are Engaged

ARUUUGHHHH!

Mandy Moore’s rep has confirmed to E! News that she and Ryan Adams are currently engaged…you know, TO BE MARRIED.

Who knew that everyone’s favorite perma-bachelor had it in him to be prepared to tie the knot…however, he is the enternal romantic, and he DID just release an EP titled “Extra Cheese.”

…Still a little part of me just died.

Here they are shopping for groceries in LA today
.

Do you think this love will last between the two former and current flames?

Thanks to Bao for ruining my bday.
