“They’re for the person who needs his one suit for a wedding,” Hammond told NY Magazine. “He’d rather get something like this than go to Men’s Wearhouse, pay the same amount, and look like an out-of-date parent.”
And seeing as how Urbinati has styled a slew of diminutive male stars like James McAvoy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Michael Angarano, I wonder if men of slimmer (and smaller) statures will easily be able to slip into the brand.
As I’m sure you’ve already heard, the long-running musical RENT will have its final performance on Broadway on September 7th. As a result, there’s been a slew of RENT-related events which have caused old-timer RENTheads like myself to come out of the woodwork. (One such event was the GMA Summer Concert series a few weeks ago where both the current Broadway cast and Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp performed songs.)
But according to the Telegraph UK, Winehouse is threatening to release the version of the Bond theme in order to show the flim producers that they have “made a big mistake.”
Said Winehouse, “I guess they are going for clean-cut and boring. When I do release mine – and I am tempted to do it on the same day – this would be the bigger hit…If they change their minds, I’m waiting.â€
Amy plans on releasing her collaboration with Mark Ronson on the same day as the White/Keys duet is being released, October 28th.

In a surprising reshaping of the urban landscape, the city is creating a public esplanade along a portion of one of its most prominent streets, Broadway in Midtown, setting aside the east side of the roadway for a bicycle lane and a pedestrian walkway with cafe tables, chairs, umbrellas and flower-filled planters.
The esplanade, which the city is calling Broadway Boulevard, will run from 42nd Street to Herald Square. Scheduled to open in mid-August, it will change that section of Broadway from a four-lane to a two-lane street.
…
Other recent initiatives from the Transportation Department include banning cars on Park Avenue on three Saturdays in August and exploring a bicycle-sharing program.
Although some people seem to be up in arms about this, I’m all for more people walking space in the city. Heck, I’d be happy if they closed all the streets down and let bikes and pedestrians roam free.
Could be NYC’s answer to the Champs-Elysee…
Good or bad on Bloomberg?
Thanks to the BSB for the link.
UPDATE: Here they are working on Broadway near 23rd Street…could the esplanade stretch even further than we first thought?
The music video component of the Converse ad campaign song “My Drive Thru” (featuring Pharrell Williams, Julian Casablancas from the Strokes, and rising star Santogold) has finally been revealed:
The video is all in black and white, with the three singers appearing like ripped out paper dolls, that fall, multiply, and zip around the screen.
Again, this song kinda blows, but it’s good to see Julian working on something. Too bad they are not Strokes songs.
Recently I’ve been expressing my fascination/obsession with the Jonas Brothers to a few friends. Well, sometimes mentioning random musings to people yields hilarious results, as is the case this week. My friend who works at Neighborhoodies took it upon himself to pitch the below t-shirt in their daily idea meeting.
What is a “bonus Jonas,” you may ask? The Jonas Brothers is band comprised of three real-life brothers: Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas. But according to a recent New York Times article, they have a 7-year-old younger brother named Frankie–and for better or worse, their father touts him as “the Bonus Jonas.”
“Bonus Jonas” has since become a hilarious catchphrase among young adults and teens who are Jonas Brothers fans/detractors.
Coldplay have released two videos for “Viva La Vida” today, one is the “official” version, directed by Hype Williams:
The other is a “cover” version made by the band, which features Chris Martin wandering around a town and grassy hill wearing a comical king hat and robe, carrying a print of “Liberty Leading the People,” which is featured on the cover of “…Death and All of His Friends.”:
The band describes it as their homage to Depeche Mode and Anton Corbijn, as the “cover” is a direct rip-off of Anton Corbijn’s video for “Enjoy the Silence”:
Which do you like better? “Viva la Vida” official, “cover,” or neither–you prefer “Enjoy the Silence.”
