June 20, 2008

in music, nyc bands, the strokes

Megapuss made their live debut on Thursday night at Los Angeles’ Hammer Museum by UCLA in Westwood,CA. The band features indie star (and Natalie Portman‘s current boytoy) Devendra Banhart, Fabrizo Moretti of The Strokes, and Greg Rogove of Priestbird, live from the Hammer Museum by UCLA in Westwood,CA.

Here’s a vid:

Sure, there was music played by the motley crew of weird and goofy yet “[legitimately] talented musicians,” but what has everyone talking is the bizarre outfit that Devendra was wearing…

Fader magazine refers the penis garland Devendra was wearing as a “dick skirt”, while Pitchfork wonders if it could be classified as a “dick belt.”

Oh and in other news, according to an interview with Priestbird’s Gregory Rogove on Crustcake, Beau Raymond Fletcher produced a record for Fabrizio Moretti, Rodrigo Amarante, a Brazilian singer, and an artist known as “Binki Shapiro” (who did backing vocals on one of Sia’s albums). The album is currently untitled and unreleased.
