I’m not sure, but Ryan Adams is going to try to find out. He just dyed his hair this week.
I TOTALLY MISS THE BROWN HAIR. His natural shade makes him look foxy.

I miss the brown hair. The blonde hair makes her look washed out here, but she looks a lot cuter in this comely photo.
According to People: “Lily Allen, checking out the art of musician-turned-painter pal Paul Simonon (of The Clash) during a private viewing at London’s Thomas Williams Fine Art Gallery. The newly blonde singer got a sneak preview of the work – inspired by Simonon’s time in Spain – before it officially opens to the public on April 17. ”
Allen reportedly spent $47,000 on artwork at the show–one piece for her bedroom, and the other as a gift to friend Elton John.
Allen, who was recently dropped as an Orange Prize judge, is said to be dating comedian James Corden, who she met on her chat show “Lily Allen and Friends” last month. Watch the sparks fly:

Beth Ditto and the gang of the Gossip rocked the house on Letterman last night. Dittos electric performance, complete with neon makeup and traffic sign-patterned tube dress, surely weaseled them some new found fans.
When it was all over, Dave suggested that he and the band “rent a van and drive across the country.” To which Ditto replied, “Are you paying for it?” Letterman: “Yeah, I’ll pay for everything.”
Hahah.
Watch:
PS- I find Beth Ditto completely inspirational. I have this one project I’m DYING to do that’s inspired by her that I think will be pretty great. Hopefully I’ll actually do it. Stay tuned…

The sophomore album by British rockers The Kooks is now out in stores.
I took a few spins of the album today and was all in all impressed. As readers of this site will recall, I absolutely adore the Kooks, so I had high expectations (and a little trepidation) for the new album.
Although some of the songs do in fact sound a tad like tunes off of Inside In/Inside Out, there are some surprising turns, most notably the disco dance hall-worthy “Do You Wanna” which won me over with it’s booty-shaking chorus “Do you wanna? Do you wanna make love to me?”. I can see skinny hipsters attempting to drunkenly scream above PA systems in seedy dive bars across the world.
Other faves are the acoustic version of “Tick of Time” and album starter “See the Sun”.
Have you taken a listen? What do you think of the new tunes?

Looks like Spoon front man Britt Daniel has had a change of heart when it comes to the White Stripes. According to a recent Pitchfork interview, he is backtracking on his “Small Stakes” lyric “I don’t dig the Stripes/ But I go for Har Mar”–now stating he’s a “big fan” and thinks “they’re doing something special.”
On the reasoning behind the new stance Daniel says, “I’m not afraid to admit it. I make mistakes.”
In related news, during the interview Daniel gives props to TMA fave and New York City artist Sean McCabe who did the cover of Gimme Fiction, stating that “It’s probably our best cover.”
Excerpt from the Pitchfork interview below:

I just caught The Redwalls on Leno playing their song “The Game of Love.” I couldn’t help but thinking that The Strokes were probably giving them a ring, asking if they could have their song back.
It actually sounds a lot like The Strokes + Albert’s solo stuff + the drumming from The Walkmen + James Walsh from Starsailor’s voice. Take a listen:
That said, I love all the aforementioned bands/artists so therefore, I kinda love this song.
The video of the Leno performance isn’t up yet, but you know how they say that couples who are with together a long time start to look and dress like one another? I think the same is true of band members. Two of the guys had the same guitar, they were all wearing black tight jeans and almost identical shoes. And they are all wee.

New York City band The Postelles (who I’ve seen open up for Jack Penate) just finished recording a song with The Strokes‘ guitarist and successful solo singer-songwriter, Albert Hammond Jr., who worked behind the board as the producer of the song. (His first time as a producer of another band’s tunes.) The song is called “123 Stop” and the band is releasing it on Monday on their MySpace, but you dear reader get a chance to listen and download the song right now!
Check it out!
