Ooohhhyeaah! The Kooks will be releasing Konk, their second album on Astralwerks on April 15, 2008.
Here’s the dish:
Taking its name from Ray Davies’ studio in North London where it was recorded, ‘Konk’ will be released in the US on April 15, 2008 on Astralwerks. “Konk†follows up to their debut album ‘Inside In, Inside Out’, which was also recorded at Konk Studios and has sold close to two million copies worldwide since its release in 2006.
After recording the album over a seven week period in London, The Kooks recently decamped to LA, where they are putting the finishing touches to the album with producer Tony Hoffer. Track titles on ‘Konk’ include ‘See The Sun’, ‘Shine On’, ‘Do You Wanna (Make Love To Me)’, ‘Disappear’, ‘Lonely Cat’, ‘Sway’ and ‘Stormy Weather’.
While in the states, The Kooks are also taking to the road for a series of special holiday shows.
Dec. 14th – KBCO Holiday Concert Series – Boulder, CO
Dec. 15th – KBZT’s Holiday Hootenanny – San Diego, CA
Dec. 16th – Alice in Wonderland – San Francisco, CA
It’s a promo bot for the DVD release of Superbad which came out on December 4th. Ugh! This is what happens when some douchebag at a movie studio decides to get into “viral marketing” and the “interwebs” to reach “the kids.”
LAME. Kill the bot along w/ that Moviephone shiz they put on your AIM as well. Horrible.

Looks like other are saying “wtf” to McLovin12four–searches for the phrase are way up on Google Trends.
A few days ago I got an email from one of my Dexter-loving comrades letting me know that both episodes 11 and 12 were now available online on some offshore website–a week and two weeks before they are to air on Showtime. I was really dying to find out WHAT THE HECK HAPPENS, foaming at the mouth even–but I have managed to keep from watching the two episodes because the Backseat Blogger made me feel guilty. The conversation went something like this:
ME: OMG! Did you see? The last two episodes of Dexter are online! OMFG!
BB: Are you going to watch them?
ME: Um… YES!
BB: Do you also open Christmas presents before the 25th of December?
ME: Uh…yes? Don’t you want to find out WHAT HAPPENS?
BB: Well I like having something to look forward to.
ME: Oh… uh.. well… when you put it that way…
Call it a test in willpower. So far I’m holding strong, but after tonight’s episode airs I don’t know if I can handle not watching the ending. Oooohhh it’ll be hard, but I think I’m going to wait until it airs on TV.
What are you going to do?
Jack White sat down for a mainly soft-ball interview with the Los Angeles Times. It’s mainly about how the White Stripes are still going strong, and how they have not stopped creating, although they have temporarily stopped touring. They recently recorded and collaborated songs with their friend Beck, setting up in his living room and laying down some tracks.
Here’s an excerpt from the interview:
At this point, White can’t predict how long the Stripes’ break will be or whether it will ever end. “I don’t know. It’s a good question,” he says. “I guess it’s up to her. . . . She seems to be lively. She was really invigorating working together on this ‘Conquest’ record. I was wondering if she was interested, and she was completely — very, very involved. And it was nice of Beck to give us that forum, help us re-understand what it is we’re doing.”
“And if something isn’t working for you and it’s detrimental to you, then you have to figure out a new way to attack it, a new way to look at it. I think that’s what Meg’s doing. . . . We’ll find our spots, we’ll find our moments. We already talked about other songs we’re working on.”
On doing a solo album Jack responds that he “doesn’t know” and that he’s “not there yet”, but the Raconteurs have half of their next album recorded and fans should expect something in 2008, complete with a tour.
Thanks to Pete for the link.
