Ryan Adams Wows the Crowd at Hiro Ballroom

Holy crap! Ryan Adams is on TOP of his game! Tonight’s show at Hiro Ballroom was nothing short of stellar. The sound was crystal clear and Ry Ry’s voice sounded as pure as snow. He didn’t play any guitar, so he poured 110% of himself into his vocal performance. He did an amazing rendition of “I See Monsters” that made me want to throw up all over myself–that’s how good it was.

Uh… did someone bootleg it? That was truly a fantastic performance.

Ryan looked quite spiffy–somehow reminding me of a young Tom Cruise a la “Risky Business”–with a neat little hair cut, clean shaven, sunglasses, and a button down shirt, tie, and jacket.

Also I spotted former Adams flame, Parker Posey walking south a block from the venue–so it’s probably a safe bet that she was at the show.

You’re correct, he did not play “These Girls”. “Down In A Hole” was the highlight of the night for me.

I saw him a couple of weeks ago in Chicago, and I too was amazed at how great his voice was. It was a similar setlist but no ‘I see Monsters.’ Pretty jealous about that.

I am sure the guys over at ryanadamsarchive.com taped it but when it will surface I am not sure. Great show except it was painful how close they put the chairs last night.

Glad you got a great show! I saw him last week in Detroit @ The Gem Theatre. Amazing…..he is in great form. Funny, I thought the same thing about his Tom Cruise Risky Business persona…..almost wrote about it. Here is my review….

man i wanna hear the recording of this show. bad.

the wilco show was incredible though
and i most definitely had more fun at Warsaw then i would have had at Hiro.
plus i’ve seen Ryan twice so far but have never seen Wilco.
glad i got tickets to that one. last nights show was where it was at.
the recording of it will speak for itself.

wish i coulda been there :( tweedy & co. already had my money and my heart for the evening. ‘i see monsters’ is one of those songs that was meh to me when i listen to the record but of my faves to hear him sing live. really gives it life.

I saw him in Burlington a few nights ago; kind of disappointed he didn’t shred faces with the guitar. Maybe he should start speed-balling again; by the way, a slow version of Holloween Head is pretty whack.

I have to say as a dude…he is pretty orgasmic and a non homosexual way…..but every time I see him in St.Louis he never plays anything from gold or Love is hell….and if he does its not one of your favorite songs…..but his new album to me is so-so….still got maddd love for him though
