The other night XFM Radio played the White Stripes’ new single, “Icky Thump”, and someone was clever enough to record it. (Thanks for the link, J.) I tried to find a streaming version off the XFM site, but no luck…
DOWNLOAD: “Icky Thump” by the White Stripes (Radio edit) (removed by request)
BUY the single legally.
It actually reminds me a little of “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” by the Dropkick Murphys–I think it’s the faux bagpipe sound.
The probable lyrics after the jump…Please suggest corrections!!

The Raconteurs, the side project of White Stripes frontman Jack White, are in a Nashville studio working on the follow-up to their 2006 debut “Broken Boy Soldiers,” and hope to have a new album out next year.
And according to White, “It’s coming out great, man.” Thanks for the head’s up, Wendy.

The AP reports that 1731 Seminole, the former Detroit, Michigan home of Jack White has finally sold to a retired couple from Maryland for $590,000. The selling price was $60,000 below the final asking price, and a far cry from the original $930,000 price tag that was attached to the property when the house was first put on the market in August of 2006.
White must have been anxious to sell, as he now lives in Nashville, TN with his wife and child. He spent a reported $200,000 worth of restoration/upgrades on the property–more than three times the $66,000 he gained in the sell, putting him in the red for net earnings on the real estate deal.
Note to self: Don’t take real estate advice from Jack White.

BOO-YAH! First blog post? Do I win? And you call yourselves bloggers… Shame shame shame.
According to the resident Spoon expert, Backseat Blogger, the show was “dirty” in the sense that Britt Daniel was just letting loose and “feeling” the music, and the band played what the BB felt was “what I would have put on a ‘Greatest Hits of Spoon’ compilation album.” Pretty high praise!
Britt WAS in fact loose and goofy–mugging faces as his fellow band mates, reacting to shouts from the crowd to “take off your shirt”, as well as pausing for a moment to point to a girl in the front rows and say, “I saw you on Spring Street today!”
