i dont think he sounds at all like the strokes and if he does 'get a life' explained it very why.
but i mean everyone has been saying that "omg your to keep sounds like the strokes so much" but i think everyone just agrees with what everyone else says cos they don't think/can't for themselves.

albert kicks ass, and the tracks on 'yours to keep' are fucking gooood, so much unlike the strokes... i think it's like listening to a good ol' 60's track with major influences from the beach boys, beatles etc.

he had worked too hard to get this. i think its time to recognize albert hammond jr as himself not as "albert hammond jr from the strokes". his album is good cause is
a "very albert album". i just loved it.

I somehow stumbled in here so here it is...

Though I tend to keep a safe distance from the Strokes camp I actually like Hammond's album. No, he isn't the best vocalist but who gives a shit neither are Lou Reed, Mick Jagger, Iggy Pop or even the guy from Weezer but I'd take any of those folks over one of these polished Chemical Romance or Cold Play sort of jokers anyday. Afterall, rock 'n' roll is about personality & attitude isn't it? Something that has taken a backseat these last few years. If polished and perfection is what you want then go listen to some new pop band... there's plenty of them. End of story.

As for sounding like the strokes, well don't you think that's a little unavoidable considering he is 1/5 of the band. Do you expect the guy to go out of his way to change his guitar sound and the way he writes to adhere to a few music twits with no life?

Outer here...

This is better than the last Strokes album, they should listen more to Alb in the future...

It makes me miss less the old Strokes, he's pretty much everything I loved of that band...

i saw albert on april 2nd at the bowery and i wont lie, i originally thought 3 guitars was pushing it for songs that didnt seem to need much to them. however, his live show completely won me over and his music and his show completely stand on their own feet regardless of the what the strokes do.
