Band of the Day: The Fratellis
NAME: The Fratellis
HOMETOWN: Glasgow, Scotland, UK
WEBSITE: http://www.thefratellis.com/

HOW I HEARD ABOUT THEM: My friend Rachel, who knows about all the cool British bands way before I do, listed she was going to two of their shows in London.
LATEST RELEASE: Costello Music
SONG LISTENED TO: “Creepin’ Up the Back Stairs” [MP3 via Lil Mike's Last Known Thoughts & Random Revelations]
WHAT THEY SOUND LIKE: The Backseat Blogger says they sound like the “Arctic Strokes”. They sound playful, a bit of swing band tempos but rockified. I absolutely love the second movement of the chorus when they sing “When you’re creepin’ up the backstairs/ Mother’s nightmares/ Falling in the front door/ My my/ Climbing in the window/ Get dressed, let’s go/ Take your brother’s car keys/ Bye bye”.
1 to 5 RATING: 4
OTHER BLOGS THAT HAVE TALKED ABOUT THEM: I Guess I’m Floating, Water All Around, Stereogum
LISTEN TO MORE: “Gutterati” on the Myspace
Video for “Chelsea Dagger”:

in spirit of what you are doing i thought i would give you the heads up on a band here in Austin, The Politics. they are such a great live band and have some sxsw shows coming up. you should check them out http://www.politicsmusic.com. Im not in the band or anything, i promise.
YAYAYYAYYA THE FRATELLIS!! god do i love them. costello music is a great album. not only am i seeing them twice but i’m also stalking them the following week at sxsw, provided they are actually playing (which they better!)
)
tnever saw the video for chelsea before and i think it sucks. i get that it goes with the theme of their album (those old fashioned show girls) but i don’t like it. mehhhh. ruins the awesomeness of the song.
i’m gonna do a write-up for hte big t blog for bands i’ve discovered in england. i’ll let you know when it’s up/when i’ve written it (aka in 8 months) so you can get more delicious bands of the day from moi.
Chelsea Girls sounds like it could be a Libertines song. And bonus points go to the singer for looking like Marc Bolan.
Its their time up there, but its our time down here.
