Band of the Day: Entrance

January 4, 2007

in band of the day, music

NAME: Entrance
HOMETOWN: LA, CA via Baltimore, MD, USA
WEBSITE: http://www.entranceband.com/

HOW I HEARD ABOUT THEM: My old man won’t stop talking about them. Ever.
LATEST RELEASE: Prayer of Death
SONG LISTENED TO: “Grim Reaper Blues” [LISTEN]
WHAT THEY SOUND LIKE: 25-year-old mastermind Guy Blakeslee sure does seem to love his Zeppelin references, and there’s plenty of guitar solos to go around…Rockin, heavy hitting, and a creepy, distortion effect on the vocals. The perfect soundtrack to a night so good that you’ll wake up in a gutter somewhere, hardly remembering how you got there.
THUMB UP OR DOWN?: Up
OTHER BLOGS THAT HAVE TALKED ABOUT THEM: Water Cooler Gossip, Chicken in the Field, My Old Kentucky Blog, The Simple Mission
LISTEN TO MORE: Myspace

Just saw them in LA this weekend, and the weekly has a tiny write up…good fucking show.

The one I listened to, “Grim Reaper Blues 2″, is probably one of the best songs.

listen to “Pretty Baby”

and it’s just Grim Reaper Blues” no “2″, i think.

also don’t sleep on “Wandering Stranger”, his second album. It’s on Fat Possum. More melodic, but really, really nice.
