Jack White Paints His Front Door Red

We all know that Jack White has vacated his historic Detroit house and is now a proud resident of Nashville, TN, but up until now I’ve seen little detail about the house he moved into. Thanks to Mr. Kelly Stewart, more has been revealed.

Kelly’s a resident of Nashville and recently stopped by the seven acre estate purchased by Jack at the end of 2005. And the best thing that Jack’s done to the grand 1910 white house? Painted his front door a beautiful fire engine red, of course!

I love that he didn’t buy some extravagant, ostentatious show place like most celebrities do. It’s nice and quaint. It looks a lot like those Southern historical homes.

Gorgeous. I’d love to live in a house like that one day.

  3. 3. Anonymous | 5:48 am on October 3rd, 2006

    Creepy.

    Leave dude alone.

  4. 4. Anonymous | 7:58 am on October 3rd, 2006

    agreed.

whats even more creepy is that she photographed the him painting the door too.

  5. 5. Henry | 8:22 am on October 3rd, 2006

haha, that looks more like Meg painting the door while Jack’s off touring.

I think it was a little shocking that guy put down what street Jack lives on! At least he took that part off his blog entry.

  7. 7. Ann | 12:34 pm on October 3rd, 2006

I love Jack. It’s why I love to read your blog but I really DON’T like the fact that Kelly posted such private info about him. It’s invasive.

  8. 8. Eric620 | 12:54 pm on October 3rd, 2006

Reprinting this guy’s invasion of privacy like it’s no big deal really crosses the line. I’m done with this blog.

  9. 9. laura | 1:35 pm on October 3rd, 2006

i agree, i don’t think putting down the street is such a great idea, glad that’s off (i don’t even remember reading it) …and real estate records are in the public domain.

  10. 10. Anonymous | 2:18 pm on October 3rd, 2006

right on, miss m! but even though it is public information a lot of people seem to be pissed. Guess it is nice to know Jack has such protective fans. This info is even on the front page of rollingstone.com right now.

  11. 11. Anonymous | 2:53 pm on October 3rd, 2006

not cool miss modern age. he doesn’t deserve that.

  12. 12. Anonymous | 4:14 pm on October 3rd, 2006

just because something is public information doesn’t mean it should be plastered all over the internet. how can people think this is something that should be reported on? it’s shameful.

Rolling Stone should be ashamed for reprinting and so should Miss Modern Age.

  13. 13. Anonymous | 4:50 pm on October 3rd, 2006

    Real nice neighbor Jack has.

  14. 14. laura | 6:30 am on October 4th, 2006

the information was out there, i posted a link to something someone else had written. i didn’t post information as to where the house is located (besides the city and state) not did i suggest people should go out and stalk Jack White. the focus of the post was not “here’s his address, go harass him”, it was just “look how cute that is, red door with white house”. i believe his post was far less invasive as some of the other stuff that has been posted in magazines and on the internet. (See the recent NY Magazine article that gave a map of the exact location where celebrities lived, or check out Gawker Stalker, or need I mention the Smoking Gun?) I too believe there is a certain level of privacy those in the public eye deserve, but i really didn’t think that the post was so horribly evil as some people seem to believe. i highly doubt that this post will create a stalking frenzy or harassment issues for Mr. White in Nashville. i can’t believe people are oblivious to the fact that gossip happens in small towns. sorry, but if you’re going to purchase a house that’s worth over 3 million dollars and spreads across 7 acres, it’s not going to be the most inconspicuous residential setting. are you trying to tell me you have never looked with awe upon a grand house in your neighborhood? are people all of a sudden not allowed to take photographs of buildings in their hometown? i doubt the original poster meant any harm or wrong-doing, just as I did not mean to either. the post seemed genuine in its praise of Jack White and proud in the fact that he’d moved to Kelly’s hometown. I think you all need to take a chill pill. Jeez.

all of what you said is true, but that doesn’t make it right. i understand the curiosity all too well and jack certainly didn’t make a secret of moving to nashville, but when rolling stone starts picking up stories like this off of someone’s personal blog it’s not something to celebrate.

  16. 16. juliette | 8:20 am on October 4th, 2006

in laura’s defense all real estate is a matter of public record. in this day and age it is really easy to find people’s houses through the tax records. i do think the red door is cute…

    BUT!!!!!

didn’t Jack White leave detroit in part because people were always camped out in front of his house? the white stripes may not have the biggest fan base - but the fans can be rabid and some are downright creepy. TAKE, TAKE, TAKE

  17. 17. Photoshopaholic | 12:53 pm on October 4th, 2006

I thought that house was for sale? Am I thinking of a different house?

  18. 18. Photoshopaholic | 12:57 pm on October 4th, 2006

Oh, yes. It’s a different house. And, so what. She took a picture of him painting his door. It’s not like he was in a compromising situation. As long as you are on public property- the street or sidewalk- it’s totally legal.

    [...] DON’T TALK ABOUT JACK WHITE’S HOUSE!!! [...]

  20. 20. Satan | 2:36 pm on October 4th, 2006

who cares he can afford security… the ass lived in detroit, I dont think its a matter for concern. If this was my blog, Id post that name all over the fucking place.

  21. 21. Steve | 3:43 pm on October 4th, 2006

I think Laura’s post is pretty harmless. She has a years-long record of adoring the Stripes (and Jack in particular), and this is simply another post in a line of posts about him. Like she said, she’s not posting his address or anything. Is it voyeuristic? Sure, but what part of our society isn’t these days?

  22. 22. josie | 4:48 pm on October 4th, 2006

Its really creepy, i don’t care what you say all it takes is a couple of crazy people to come and start stalking Jack, Karen and his family, its really scary. I know people who know Jack ( not myself) and I’ve heard some creepy stories of people bugging him in a bad way, not cool.

  23. 23. Ann | 4:54 pm on October 4th, 2006

I just want to clarify my position. I look on this blog everyday hoping for some new post on Jack. I loved seeing his house. I guess I’m just one of those protective fans. I don’t want anyone else to know where he lives. :) lol

  24. 24. James | 3:04 am on October 5th, 2006

Relax people. If a stalker wanted to find Jack’s house, it won’t be thru this website… I know casue I AMA STALKER!!! ROAR!!!

  25. 25. deleted | 7:47 am on October 5th, 2006

a lot of people loved seeing pamela anderson
and tommy lee fucking, does that make it
right that someone stole that tape from
them and made millions off it?

saying that the photo is harmless is lame

how about showing us a photo of you miss
modern age? huh? or are you another
hipster coward like the guys on pitchfork
    with fake names?

i say if you can dish it out you should take
it, let’s see a photo of laura’s unmade bed
    in the morning.

I thought I read Jack left Detroit because it was negative and that people were bothering him there but I never read they were hanging out around his house.
That post said Jack has 7 acres, hopefully that is enough to insulate himself from his rabid fans!

  32. 32. malcomy | 4:54 pm on October 6th, 2006

Yeah but you don’t even post your real name on your own blog so how about respecting someone elses’ need for privacy?

  33. 33. maggie | 12:44 am on October 8th, 2006

you people are effin nuts. leave her alone.

  34. 34. patrick | 12:53 pm on October 9th, 2006

yeah why is she so scared to show us
    what SHE looks like?

you’ve made yourself a public figure
miss modern age, you deserve to
suffer the same lack of privacy
that you inflict on other “famous”
    people don’t you think?

or are you another internet coward?

  35. 35. polite | 12:54 pm on October 9th, 2006

the original blogger of this has taken
down the photo of jack’s house.

maybe you should do the same.

  36. 36. kathie | 4:45 pm on October 12th, 2006

miss modern age how about showing us yourself and giving us your address other than invading other people’s privacy then freaking out when you are told to take it down.
Wow you really are a coward along with all the other bloggers out there.

Some of you have real problems.

If I were Kelly, I would have done the same thing and taken a picture.

Uhm, so what? Haha, I wouldn’t give a damn if someone took a picture of me painting my door. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

You’re all stressed out over nothing. Stop trying so hard.

  39. 39. Josey | 3:22 pm on September 26th, 2007

For those interested, red doors are sort of a kitchy thing in Nashville - there are many, many, many red doors found here and as a matter of fact, there are two bars named “The Red Door”.

  40. 40. Emily | 11:58 am on December 8th, 2007

Just came across this - I have lived in the Nashville area for almost 20 years now, and folks in the area are pretty good about leaving celebrities alone (I think that’s why a lot of them live here). It’s not a big deal to see one at the movies, restaurants, shopping, etc…

I personally would not post someone’s address. However, in this photo it’s not even obvious where this home is - there are a lot of grand historic homes in the area.

And he left Detroit due to negativity, not folks camping out.

  42. 42. Anonymous | 6:52 pm on January 4th, 2008

you know what… i’m visiting Nashville soon, and call me crazy, but i would like to see where he lives while i’m there. You can go to London and take a guided tour to Paul McCartney’s house.Jack is famous ok? It’s not like he expects his house to be a secret.
    Get lives.

  43. 43. native nashvillian | 7:57 pm on February 13th, 2008

it doesn’t matter if nashvillians know where he lives. he’s not the first musical mega-star in the area, and he’s not the last. we’re glad he decided to share our community, and we welcome him with the warmth of our southern arms. if people in nashville were interested in following musicians around all the time and harassing them, we wouldn’t have enough time to do anything else. if you ever meet somebody who says they’re from nashville and says they haven’t met, at the very least, someone who’s written a popular song, you should be advised that they haven’t been around for too long. mostly, the wonder surrounding celebrities is gone in nashville, and it’s for that reason i hope mr. white finds the peace and respect he is obviously courting.
