The Phoenix Foundation Take the Cake (Shop)

in concerts, indie, music, photographs

On Friday I got a chance to see a new band from New Zealand called The Phoenix Foundation. I didn’t know anything about them before showing up to the basement-level performance space on the LES’s Cake Shop, so I had no expectations. Well even if I had expectations, I would have been equally impressed with their blend of cute indie folk rock. I especially loved the songs which modernized the sounds of surf-music like Dick Dale and His Del-Tones.

They were fun and cheeky with adorable stage banter. Definitely recommended for boys and girls who like to wear cherry-patterned t-shirts and brightly-colored striped polos during the summertime.

Whoa..

That’s awesome.. I was not expecting to see a little ole NZ band on here.. That’s so rad.

You should go see Die! Die! Die! though, if you get the chance.. they’re amazing.. I think (I might be wrong) that they’ve based themselves in New York at present.

all good.
