More Cheap Noodles in Chinatown

Was walking around this evening and noticed a new restaurant, Hong Kong Station, is now open on Bayard Street in Chinatown. Apparently this is the second HKS restaurant (the original is on Hester Street near Bowery).

Fortunately it’s open a little later than the Hester Street store, 10:30pm is the regular closing time, 11:30 on Saturday. Haven’t tried out the noodles (which start at 1 dollar!!), but the slick black, white, and red store facade reminds me of one of my favorite UK noodle chains, Wagamama. Not to mention that it’s next to “Top Model Salon”!

I LOVE Wagamama! Always a pit stop on every trip to London.

    Looks like it’s got 7″ single cover-art potential for a certain band . . .

Wagamama is awesome! Once Pret a Manger made it’s way to N.Y. I thought it was only a matter of time before Wagamama followed and I could have my salmon ramen every day if I wanted, just like when I was in London.

I like how the sign looks like the HK metro signs.

So what are you willing to offer in exchange for Wagamama? ;-)

Dude, that is the cleanest sidewalk I have ever seen. No one even treads on the ones in LA, but they’re far dirtier than yours.

Wagamama serves some of the worst food imaginable. It is an insult to Asian cuisine. Overprices, bland. I have given it 3 chances and it has disappointed every time. Why subject yourself to it when the alternative — honest, authentic Asian food — is so much more available and cheaper?
