In my on-going effort to be a 14-year-old girl, I finally figured out how to glean some type of information from the totally confusing Panic! at the Disco web site. Seriously, it’s worse that Ryan-Adams.com with its virtual house set up. I’m pretty sure that I’m the only one reading this who actually cares about learning more information about Panic! at the Disco.
Anyway, if you type in “news” from the get-go you can read the message that was posted on the site…or you could just read it right here:
There really isn’t a good way to say this, and it was a decision that was very tough to make, but feels like it will be the right decision for everyone. We regret to inform you that Brent is no longer a part of Panic at the Disco, and although this choice does feel very healthy, he is a great friend of ours and he will definitely be missed. We all wish him well and the best of luck in everything he wants to do in the future. The last few years will be something we will never forget, all the places we’ve been that we never thought we’d go and things we’ve seen that we thought we’d never see when we started this band.
Right now our friend jon is going to be filling in, and I’m sure it would ease his nerves a bit to get a warm reception. We’re at home preparing for the summer tour, and we’ve never worked so hard on putting something together. I can’t tell you how excited we are for these shows and for you all to see what we’ve been planning, we’ve got a few tricks up our sleeves…just you wait.
However, I really do have to give props to a comment left on the Strokes message board about this heart-breaking news: “now if they would just split with the guitarist, singer and drummer, id be happy.” Sorry, it’s pretty funny.
In other news, things got really desperate this morning when I woke up at 7am and then ended up listening to October Fall song “Caught In the Rain” about 6 times in a row on MySpace. It’s kinda pop perfect with a cute horn section that pipes up ever so often.
As a peace offering for all the emo talk above, here’s a screencap of the photo of the video shoot for “You Only Live Once” (directed by Samuel Bayer, who also did the “Heart In a Cage” video and the epic “Wake Me Up When September Ends” for Greenday) that appeared on TheStrokes.com. The video will have its UK premiere on May 24th.
