East England’s Latitude Festival Announced

The newest music/arts festival to launch this year is England’s Latitude Festival on Henham Park Estate, Southwold, on the coast of Suffolk.

According to the event’s promoters:

Latitude promises to bring something unique and different to the British summer calendar. “Diversity is the main thing here,” explains [Mean Fiddler boss, Melvin] Benn, “I want to bring that genteel, less manic feel that European festivals have to Latitude. The Haye On Wye event has also inspired me a lot and I want to incorporate elements of that to our festival. I want to be able to wander from books to music to film in the way you can in your own sitting room. I am looking forward to that feeling of being able to listen live to the music and then the words of an author or poet or environmentalist rather than just reading it in the newspapers or listening on a cd.

Now that we’re all warm and fuzzy, here are the confirmed musical acts: Snow Patrol, Antony & The Johnsons and Mogwai
