Why is it when I mentioned to everyone that I was seeing NYC’s Radio 4 last week at the Astralwerks offices the overwhelming response was, “Woah, are they still around?” Yes, they are still around and they’ve got a new album, Enemies Like These, dropping in a couple of weeks and they will start touring an european town near you starting in May (June for you Yanks), so act like you heard.
They continue doing what they do best–upbeat shouty dance music. One song in particular caught my ear during their set was the latin-flavored tune “This Is Not a Test” which was accented by bongo beats and the high-pitched chimes of a set of agogo bells. You can take a listen to it over at the Astralwerks site.

Musical Sell-Outs?
This was written by journalist/author Dave Eggers about "selling out." Butch Walker posted it on his myspace blog (I’m not sure where it originally came from) and I figured there were some on ONTD who would appreciate it
Today, while responding to a post on her Web site’s message board, Amanda De Cadenet made the following statement:
sorry it took me SO long to respond…i’m busy being pregnant which seems to be quite time consuming!
Woah! I’m assuming it would be Mr. Nick Valensi’s love child. Congratulations to the expecting couple! That’s gonna be one rock ‘n’ roll baby. When they get older this baby and big sis Atlanta (Amanda’s child with Duran Duran’s John Taylor) can spend hours debating who has the cooler dad. Thanks to Tess and The Strokes BB for the link!

British rapper M.I.A. was all set to come to America to record her new album with Timberland. The only problem is that US Immigration will not let her in the country. Writes M.I.A. on her MySpace journal:
HEY TRY SHUT MY DOOR!
Roger roger do you here me over!!!!
the U.S immigration wont let me in!!!!!
i was mennu work with timber startin this week, but now im doin a Akon “im locked out they wont let me in” im locked out! they wont let me in! Now Im strictly making my album outside the borders!!!! so il see you all one day, for now ill keep reportin from the sidelines

Someone on the ONTD board guessed that “maybe they’re just trying to stop illiterate people from entering the US“…which basically caused a Jack-White-Coca-Cola-style (currently at 197 comments) online war over cutting/not cutting the Sri Lankan born M.I.A. some slack on her slightly incomprehensible blog post. Link via ONTD.
