Heard about Your Band

Brakes play BK and NYC

Brakes is playing an in-store at Neighborhoodies in Brooklyn, and a show at Pianos tomorrow evening. You should definitely check them out. They are my favorite new band. They mainly play fast, punk-inspired music that’s tongue-in-cheek. With songs like “Cheney” (“Cheney, Cheney, Cheney. Stop being such a dick!”) and “Hi How Are You” (Sample lyrics: “Won’t you shut the f_ck up? I’m just trying to watch the band.”) you’re inner angry left-wing hipster will have a field day. They also play pretty slow songs like “Sometimes Always” and a great dance song called “All Night Disco Party.”

The band is made up of members of British Sea Power, Electric Soft Parade, and Tenderfoot. I’m not really too wild about any of those bands, but I absolutely L-O-V-E Brakes. I really encourage you to head out tomorrow night to see ’em.

UPDATE: Here’s a review of last night’s show.
