Ok, secret show mania has officially gotten out of hand. When I start getting text messages from people telling me that Norah Jones is doing a secret show at the Delancey, that’s when I know secret shows have totally lost their edge. That’s what happened to me last night. I got a text message from my friend who shall remain nameless (for the protection of his credibility–after all, he was at the “secret Norah Jones show”) and it said “Norah Jones is playing at the Delancey.” I simply thought this meant that for some reason Norah Jones was playing on the sound system at the Delancey, but noooooo…I found out today that the Grammy Golden Child was actually playing the downstairs space last night–and reportedly wearing a wig.
I don’t have any more details at this time as to why in the world Ms. Jones was doing a show at the D wearing a wig, but if you can explain it to me, please do so in the comments area. This is all getting a little too weird for me.

no wig, and it wasn’t at the delancy, it was at the living room on ludlow – she played piano for another band, and did a brilliant Jolene rendition.
No, d is wrong. I was at the Delancey listening to Zachery Cale and about to go home when I heard mumblings that Norah Jones being there wearing a wig and a painted-on mask. I had to stay because this seemed all too wierd to me, and then there she was with two other members from her band, playing songs about vimpires and yelling into a mic. I loved it, but I’m still in shock.
i see this is a very old post, but last night, feb 9, she played a surprise show after a bunch of other bands performed at the delancey. with a blond wig and painted on black eye mask (sorta crazy 88-ish) and she fucking rocked! well, the whole band rocked: nj, an asian female bass player (also in the eye mask and a pink wig), and a white dude with a huuuuge fro wig on drums. supposedly its her side project, i didn’t catch the name. but yeah, fucking great, and norah has never looked hotter!
