ALL MOST FAMOUS

Preview of the images in the “All Most Famous” book. Only available at the launch party: March 1st, 7:30 to 10 at BLVD (199 Bowery) in NYC.

CONSPIRACY THEORY

This weekend we went shopping. This weekend we realized there’s a marketing conspiracy to get everyone dressed in pink. Not just girly girls, but also sports chicks. Betsey Johnson has always loved pink.

Great moments in pink music:

And in the “You’ve GOT to be kidding me” category: Skaterade.

AWESOME

The New York Times speaks fondly of The Fever and the Von Bondies; NME interviews the Von Bondies; Gwen Stefani takes on the solo spotlight.

Hey…uh…The Strokes are doing Summerstage in May and it’s sold out? Oops.

ALL THE COOL KIDS ARE DOING IT

Tomorrow night MisShapes is having a star-studded event… the Heatherette Birthday Bash starring… Boy George! Every fashionable, fabulous ’80s-electro-lover in town will surely make an appearance.

Also, Phantom Planet cash in on their Live Journal-age fanbase and start a band blog.

THE $2 BILL REARS ITS UGLY HEAD AGAIN

The Vines and Jet play MTV’s “$2 Bill” at the House of Blues in New Orleans on March 22nd. You can pick up your tix Saturday, March 6th at 10am at the HOB Box Office at 225 Decatur Street.

THIS EQUALS AWESOME

Available in stores next week (and in some places in NYC… as of tonight!).

Holy crap! We just read this week’s Neumu newsletter, and we swear on Mel Gibson’s The Passion, we didn’t hijack their e-mail system and send this off: I’m so excited about the upcoming Von Bondies album, Pawn Shoppe Heart, I can
hardly stand it. I hope you get to at least hear the first single, ‘C’mon
C’mon,’ which is one of the most infectious rock songs I’ve heard in a long
time. We’re currently featuring it as a free MP3 download in ‘Gramophone.’ The
entire album is great, raw punk rock, but with a huge sound. An amazing album!

THIS IS WHAT RECORD COMPANIES ARE SPENDING MONEY ON

The Strokes are still permitted by RCA to make boring videos, like their latest installment of totally useless music videos, “Reptilia.” Well hey, at least this one isn’t directed by Roman Coppola. We would have liked it more if it was just Julian’s face the whole time. Link from Sea of Angels.

Speaking of The Strokes… that rumored “secret” show at CBGB’s tonight? Totally not happening. That show is probably totally sold out, with lots of little girls primping their hair, but sorry darlings… you will not be seeing The Strokes nor Moby tonight. But at least you were duped for a good cause.

Back when we used to be on the up and up about Web crap, we used to visit these awesome sites: Quarlo, Eyes Wide Open; Affordable Justice; Bellmas.org; Sea of Angels; Careless Talk Costs Lives; Whirlwind Heat; Below 14th; Craigslist’s Missed Connections; Damien Loeb has new crap coming out

DROP-OUTS STILL ALLOWED TO WORK

Now that Dirtbombs’ drummer Ben Blackwell is a college drop-out, the Metro Times has decided to stop printing his letters to the editor…now they just print his tour diaries. Link from Burned by the Sun.

INSERT MONEY HERE

Concert-goer demands money back after horrible Liars show (with “secret guests,” Yeah Yeah Yeahs) in Brooklyn. In other news, Angus hightails it to Berlin as Karen heads to La-la land.
