From the Other Music mailing list:

THE FINGER “We Are F*** You” (One Little Indian) CD $22.99

The Finger is the punk rock supergroup of Ryan Adams, Jesse Malin
and friends. Their first album “We are F*** You” released on their
Broadway Jungle imprint and limited to 1000 vinyl only copies is a
highly sought after item fetching a pretty penny on eBay. The
second album “Punk’s Dead Let’s F***” was recorded two months
later and has not even been released yet! This CD contains both
Finger albums, a full 20-tracks of trashy punk rock. It was released
by One Little Indian in the UK and it is a one time pressing only! So,
all of you Ryan Adams fans, pick this up now for it is sure to be gone very,
very soon! [JS]

Woah. The Strokes like Anna Sui. The Thrills, Interpol, and Datsuns in London. Looks like Chris Martin’s got a tea cozy on his head. You saw it here first, like 2 weeks ago, but here it is again… Claire Danes on drums. Links from Alyse.

Why does this sound like they just freed Nelson Mandela or something? Thanks Eddy!:

FREE AT LAST!!!
For a few months now Bono (lead singer of U2) has been
helping BRMC find a way to re-enter the USA and
perform again as a full band.
Along with long exhausting efforts by BRMC Management,
U2, Richard Goldstein, Daniel Aharoni and many others
the day finally came on February 17th when the US
Embassy has been generous enough to grant Nick Jago a
new VISA so that the band will be able to live and
perform in the USA once again.
This has been a long time coming for everyone involved
but the door has finally opened.
For all the BRMC fans in America this is all happening
very suddenly so no immediate tour plans have been set
as of yet, but you can expect a tour this summer.

Our poor friend Daniel went into a fit of rage last night after he saw this picture:

woah! where you going there?

Hope we didn’t ruin your morning.

Who the? What the? HELL? We thought this show was gonna be at Irving Plaza, for christsake! The Rapture perform at the NYU Thompson Center on Feb 27! WTF? It’s 4 dollar tickets for non-NYU students. Thanks John for the final info.

Jack White’s gone crazy. Listen to the fucking psychobabble: “i told beck to get out of my bathtub, and i collected do not disturb signs with terry. mostly i had three minutes to myself today, and tomorrow too. some of the minutes are on loan. eating well though, and smiling politely to strangers, meg says to hug you mothers tightly and i say to let you lamplight shine and burn. see you soon kids on a stage near you, boomdagle rumblefuss charpenhurper fortusblend and cateldragon”. Hooray! We’re not the only ones rapidly falling into a pit of unknown absurdity.

We’re going to The Music tonight. We’re totally stoked for it. But we are a little two-fold sad about it. The two reasons being 1. The Soledad Brothers are playing Mercury Lounge tonight, so we’re missing it. and 2. Our favorite underage rockers, Surefire, are playing Desmond’s (located at 433 Park Ave South & 29th Street) at 9:30. So if you were lame and didn’t get a ticket to The Music, you should definitely check one of these two out. The Soledad Brothers are already kinda famous, but Surefire will be famous really soon. Don’t look at us funny when it comes true — we fucking told you.

Oh, and if you see us falling on the floor, jumping up and down, and/or attempting to do things that really shouldn’t be done in public tonight, it’s not our fault. Sometimes the craziess can’t be controled.

Ladytron are Mr. Robotoman gone wrong.

NME writes about the Brit Awards: “Coldplay performed ‘Clocks’ live, Chris Martin had ‘Make Trade Fair’ – a reference to the campaigning charity – written on his hand. While Avril Lavigne performed ‘Sk8r Boi’ with, bizarrely, 20 drummers.” Dunno which is more confusing, that we’re looking to NME for news or that they’ve constructed a sentence with facts more bizarre than ones they could make up.

More… “Kylie performed Blondie’s ‘Rapture’ with Justin Timberlake almost stealing the show as she did last year with ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head/Blue Monday’.” It’s bad enough stuff like this happens, why do they have to write about it too?

Daily dose of “huh?”: “The new stuff is like The Sex Pistols meets Detroit Cobras meets Kraftwerk.” Pelle Hives.

We don’t believe it! Trista picked the soppy poet! Aaaah! But dude, he totally loved her. Charlie shmarly.

With The Bachelorette and Joe Millionaire both over, we’re hanging on a reality television thread with American Idol. Help!

Beck kinda looked like this on Conan

Beck’s late-night talk show domination has drawn to a close. 4 out of the last 5 nights on network television he sung his little heart out. But last night’s Conan was beyond words. He performed an acoustic “Guess I’m Doing Fine,” sans-band wearing the same jacket he wore the night before on Letterman (and also on Valentine’s day). Swoon-worthy, for sure. Can you tell we love Beck Hansen?

You’ve seen them around town, now read the article. The White Stripes in New York City. Read the wisdom from the other man who writes the songs that fill our hearts. (Beck being the first). We’re torn. We’ve only got so much love to give. From Gawker.

British sensation, Mikey Skinner (AKA – The Streets), will be taking on the US of A. You rap, white boy!

We’d be running for my life too if MJUnity (a group of hard-core Michael Jackson devotees) were after us.

Mogwai to tour UK, and in an unlikely pairing, bringing Detroiters The Sights along for the ride.

Every place needs music, but the idea of “The Malibu Scene” rubs us the wrong Tropicana suntan lotion way. Is it still music if you’re wearing a Lakers t-shirt?

Great interview with Ben Ratliff on writing for the NYT (among other things). Link from Gawker.

To whoever shouted out “Freebird” last night during Simian, shut up, that’s our job.
