Oops. The Cato Salsa Experience was at Mercury Lounge tonight. Sorry Norway.

From the kind people at XL Records: The White Stripes - As ‘White Blood Cells’ continues to go from strength
to strength in the states, The White Stripes are looking forward to the
European release of their new single ‘Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground’
on September 2nd. The single is accompanied by a new Michel Gondry video
which was shot in London earlier this year. Gondry’s previous Stripes
video for ‘Fell In Love With A Girl’ recently picked up no fewer than 4
nominations in the US MTV Video Awards.”

This just in: The Dears. Sunday August 4 w/ American Analog Set & her space holiday at the Knitting
Factory. New York, NY (10$) On around 8:30 PM.

The Vines. CB’s.

Check it oooouut! The D-Plan has a video for “Time Bomb”! How rad is that? In related news, Travis Morrison likes bran cereal.

I love Girls-Suck for gems such as this one, the Underage Whore Epidemic:

There was a time when the ‘average’ girl [15-17 age group] would more than likely be well mannered, mostly polite, and at least be able to respond when you talked about literature. Now it seems like it’s all about spitting (a quality that is never a virtue in anyone), swearing, and acting like whores. And not even high quality whores we call escorts, no no no, they act like it’s a fire sale, and the clothes have to go.

Go and see some free music on Friday. The Snow Fairies; Friday, August 2nd, 2002 at Freddy’s Back Room (corner of dean street and 6th avenue) in Brooklyn. They go on around 10:30.

Goodbye Ryan Starr- you are the weakest link!

There’s been a delay on the launch of Miss Audrey’s site, so she’d like to share some photos she took this past weekend/week at gigs and such:

Best British Blogger award a “bloody stupid idea,” says Tom Coates.

You can’t make quotes like this up. Toploader front-man Joseph Washbourn says, [We've] sold a lot of sausages…” Ok then.

Doesn’t anyone remember when JJ72’s Mark Greaney used to slag Coldplay off? Well they all come around eventually, don’t they? Mark calls Coldplay “good people.” Thank god.

Britney speaks in the third person about herself. Britney bails on Mexico mid-song- stopping cold during “Stronger” by saying, “I’m sorry, Mexico… I love you, bye.” Coincidentaly, that’s the same way she broke up with Justin Timberlake.

San Fran peeps- there’s still time to mark this one in your calendars- Victoria Smith will be having a gallery show of 48 poster-size images of rock she has taken in the past year and a half (think Coldplay, Doves, Air, etc…) all at 52 Mason Street starting at 6pm.

If you’re feeling sexy (or you’re so drunk you don’t know what you’re doing) get up on the 52 Mason PA system, plug in your GE-tar and sing away- because there’s gonna be amps and mics set up to accomodate inpromptu performances. Well, ask Victoria first. We wouldn’t want any embarassing situations to arise… I mean at least without prior notice… so that they can be videotaped and used later for blackmail purposes.

Party will run late, so please stop by. Oh yeah- AND IT’S FREE!
